Hi and welcome to my Coarse Fishing Blog.
My name is Nathan and I’ve been an angling nut since I was about 8. I love angling and everything that surrounds it. I currently write for the Freshwater Informer and have written a couple of articles for the Association of Barbel Fishers ‘Riffle’ magazine and published articles in Coarse Angling Today. I am also an official contributor to the excellent Fishtec Blog, along with the likes of Matt Hayes, Tony Miles and Dave Lane.
I am proud and honoured to be a Team Lone Angler member, working with the most innovative bait and tackle manufacturer in the UK, if not the world.
My angling takes me all over the country in pursuit of all sorts of fish from barbel to grayling and to explore new waters and countryside. I am lucky to have several close fishing buddies that are also of a similar disposition and enjoy the adventure of discovering new venues.
My first love is for flowing water, hence the blog title, but I still enjoy a bit of float fishing in the spring for tench and crucian carp. However rivers are my bag and I find listening to running water very therapeutic.
However enough of this preamble. Enjoy the blog.
I’m sure it’s going to be very interesting following your blog.
Could you give me more details on getting hold of the fox Bob james centrepin for the reduced price and authenticated by Bob himself
Cheers
Joe

Hi Martin, thanks for looking in. You won’t go far wrong heading to either the Wye or the Severn. I have little personal experience of the latter but plenty of friends that fish it and still do well.
If you start your approach around the Ross/Hereford region you’ll have loads of river to go at on the Wye. The Wye and Usk foundation do lots of beats from £15-25 per person per day and you’ll have the place pretty much to yourself. You could contact Woodys in Hereford or Wye Angling in Ross for details of day tickets which start from about £5 per day. Woody if particularly helpful if you pop into see him.
Plenty of accommodation in the region from caravan/camping parks to cottages, B&Bs, hotels etc etc Google for more info.
Simple rigs work. Either cage feeder and groundbait/pellet or even blockend with maybe hemp and micro pellets all work well. In the right places you could have some fun on the float.
If you need any more specific info let me know and I’ll email you.

Hi Graham, thanks for looking in and the comments. Groe Park are the local club in Builth and you can get day tickets for the Town Stretch and another section below town. They are very good stretches particularly the stretch which is known as the fly run but this section is members only. So you would be much better off joining the club which means you can access the members only stretches.
There are day tickets up at Rhayader from the Rhayader and Elan Valley Angling Association as well.
Then you have numerous Wye and Usk Foundation stretches which can be good on both the Wye and Irfon. The stretch of Irfon at Cefnllysgwynne used to be particularly good and a really beautiful stretch (2-3 miles long)
The Ithon is also worth a look with tickets from the Severn Arms at Penybont. The Ithon will give a good chance of a 2lb+ grayling as does the Irfon.
I hope that helps. If you would like a bit more info just get in touch.

The chap that runs the club, Lance, has been super helpful and suggested the fly run as well. Thanks advice.
